Thermet Inc. was started in 1978 by James M. Murphy as an induction heat treating company in Menomonee Falls. After years of serving the southeastern Wisconsin area with the highest quality induction heat treating available, the company started manufacturing and hardening ring gears for OMC's small horsepower outboard engines.
In 1987 the company moved to Milwaukee and added carburizing furnaces to more fully service their customers.
Since 1995 the company has been located in Waukesha and is solely focused on induction hardening. Paul G. Mikna, PE takes pride in leading the 2nd generation of this family-run business into the future and is committed to continuing to offer the high quality induction heat treating services that customers have come to depend upon.
